French Fortune

Eiffel Tower, Paris, France

Eiffel Tower, Paris, France

When Sabrina in France asked me to do a direct swap with her, I almost refused as I had arranged a swap with a French girl about 5 minutes earlier. Boy am I glad that I said yes, otherwise I’d never have received this postcard, which now definitely ranks among my favourite postcards ever! Nobody needs to tell anybody what the name of this structure is, unless of course you grew up on Mars. The Eiffel Tower was named after its designer Gustave Eiffel and was completed in 1889 for the World’s Fair. To this day it remains the highest structure in Paris, with a total height of just over 324 meters. In 2010 it was recorded that the Eiffel tower had been visited by approximately 250 million with an additional 7 million people visiting it every year. I’m so happy about this beaut! Thanks Sabrina!

  1. Hello Ruky – well jel of this card 😉 did you also know that the Eiffel Tower was initially designed to be temporary but was so loved that it became permanent? If you ever get to Paris, you MUST visit it, it’s amazing!

    • I did not know that at all! Thanks Monaco! You know I like to learn from these postcards and you just taught me something new! 😀 I’ll make sure to be one of the (by then) 300 million people to have visited it! haha
