Finnish Deception

Pappa Tunturi

Pappa Tunturi

From the land of year-round Christmas postcards, Finland, comes this postcard of Santa Claus on a Tunturi moped. This postcard was sent to me by Tuula.  Oh but those Finnish people, ha! They think we would buy the fact that Santa rides around on a moped, nuh uh. We know better, don’t we? A sled and 8 reindeer, that’s how this works! We all know that. Of course, I am being facetious. Tunturi is a brand of mopeds that was opened in Turku, Finland in 1922. The company originally started out as a repair shop and gradually moved into the building of Tunturi branded motorcycles. It became a market leader by the 1950s. Tuula tells me that even her dad had one of these mopeds when she was small. Tunturi later decided to move into fitness products and is now sold in more than 40 countries around the world. Always good to learn a thing or two about something you know naught. Thanks Tuula!
