Sara from the beautiful nation of Croatia sent me this lovely postcard of Veliki Brijun in the Adriatic Sea. It is located off the coast of Istria and is the largest island of the Brijuni Islands. It has been part of Brijuni National Park since 1983. Evidence found suggests that the island was inhabited from around 3000 BC. Today the island is inhabited by many animals given as gifts by visiting heads of state from countries forming part of the Non-Aligned Movement. In 2009 plans were drawn up to develop the island to a luxury tourist destination that can accommodate up to 800 people. Now, that seems like a lovely idea. Hope I can afford to go there someday! Thank you Sara!
