Patchwork Plains

Canterbury, New Zealand

Canterbury, New Zealand

A lovely postcard came to me from Michelle in a country that South Africans tend to love in real life but also tend to hate on the rugby field. The home of the fierce All Black rugby team, New Zealand. Michelle lives in Christchurch, a city located in the region of Canterbury. Michelle tells me that this part of Canterbury plains has the largest area of flat land in all of New Zealand and that the area is used mostly for agriculture. She also says that from the air it looks like a patchwork quilt from all the different colours of the fields. Then of course also in this postcard is that lovely picture of the Southern Alps in the background. No wonder these lucky people are in their hot air balloon overlooking this serene area. Thanks for my first postcard from New Zealand!
