Aruba! Aruba!

Green Iguana

I nearly fell over when I got this postcard through Postcrossing! It was sent by Daphne, who is originally from The Netherlands but is currently living in Aruba. It is the 158th postcard sent from Aruba, using Postcrossing! Apparantly the Iguana is a common creature on this Caribbean island. Two species of iguana are included in the genus iguana, the green iguana and the Lesser Antillean iguana. The former being the one on the postcard and the latter being an endangered species due to habitat destruction. The green iguana grows up to 1.5 meters in length and eats babies. Naaaah, I’m just messing with ya! It’s a herbivore. Anywho, I was pretty darn glad to get this postcard!

Then There was Holland

Een Waakzaam Oog

These 2 postcards were sent to me by Monte from Hilversum in The Netherlands. These are still 2 of my most unique and certainly, among, my favourite postcards. “Een waakzaam oog” can be translated to “A watchful eye” in English and was painted by Viggo Pedersen (1854-1926). The Ganzenbord is an old Dutch board game.
