This great postcard of the Spanish capital, Madrid, came to me from Juliet. The city is also Spain’s largest city with a population of 3.3 million people. I knew that it was a large city but I was surprised at its sheer size. Madrid is the 3rd largest city in the EU, after London and Berlin and the 3rd largest metropolitan in the EU after London and Paris. It is ranked as the 10th most livable cities in the world and one of Europe’s 12 greenest cities. It is also the major financial centre of Southern Europe and the Iberian Peninsula. I have to say that I am so impressed with this city right now. Thank you Juliet for giving me the opportunity to learn all that through this cool postcard!
When Sabrina in France asked me to do a direct swap with her, I almost refused as I had arranged a swap with a French girl about 5 minutes earlier. Boy am I glad that I said yes, otherwise I’d never have received this postcard, which now definitely ranks among my favourite postcards ever! Nobody needs to tell anybody what the name of this structure is, unless of course you grew up on Mars. The Eiffel Tower was named after its designer Gustave Eiffel and was completed in 1889 for the World’s Fair. To this day it remains the highest structure in Paris, with a total height of just over 324 meters. In 2010 it was recorded that the Eiffel tower had been visited by approximately 250 million with an additional 7 million people visiting it every year. I’m so happy about this beaut! Thanks Sabrina!
